Expert Instruction

Aiden Schnell is a Berklee College of Music grad with a deep love for traditional fiddle tunes and progressive acoustic music.

He’s performed everywhere from Club Passim to Grey Fox and is known for blending jazz finesse with down-home bluegrass grit.

A former student of Hayes Griffin, Aiden brings a fresh, thoughtful, and practical approach to flatpicking guitar.

Why?

This class is designed to help you learn 6 standard tunes the traditional way - by watching and listening to an expert player. Each class, you will use the power of the voice to internalize tunes, associate their notes with the degrees of the major scale, then find those tunes one phrase at a time on your guitar. Why not just learn from TAB? Well... TAB can often be a visual crutch that prevents us from developing a meaningful relationship with the sound of the tune we are attempting to learn. Learning by ear may seem hard at first, but after the first couple weeks of class, we guarantee you'll never want to learn any other way.
